Subject: Regarding your art of the Virgen Guadalupe
To: alma310@sbcglobal.net

I do not know who you are and this is the first time I have seen your vision of the Virgen Guadalupe. I understand that artists see this in a different way but I need to tell you that I did find your vision offensive. My reasons are that you compared her to Jesus when he was nailed to the cross and I do not believe it is a fair comparison. Jesus was stripped by soldiers to degrade him but Our Virgen appeared as a representation of our Holy Mother not just for the women of our faith but for all including the men of our faith. Stripping her of her clothing is degrading her message to all of us is my belief.

Please, I do not mean any disrespect for your art. I just prefer to think of Our Virgen as how she appeared and what she represents for me. I am a Catholic of Mexican decent and lately I have been feeling that religion and faith is loosing its sacredness and I sure hope that you understand where I am coming from as I am trying to understand what you are trying to say by portraying her in this way, even though I do not.

Thank you for listening
