Alma, so am I!!!!!!!  I am not really an active member of this group but I do enjoy certain things about this list.  For over 2 months, I had to deal with him attacking you on your design of the Virgin.  Who is he to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do???  Girl, I give you major props for doing something that you felt the need to do.  Many artists are misunderstood.  I am personally  not an artist but my brother is and I know what he goes through.  Alma, I admire your work and I am glad you responded to my e-mail.  I can just imagine all the hate e-mails that Octavio is going to send to me after my comment.

It's all good!!!

Irene

Alma,

Congratulations on a successful exhibit. I was not aware of it until after-the-fact, but it seems to have generated quite a bit of interest. Very successful I?d say. It seems to me that when I sat as Board President of Galeria de la Raza in San Francisco we had a similar situation with an LA artist who depicted Latino & non-Latino icons in embraces -- Madonna and Mother Teresa, for example.  It created a firestorm of controversy and a broken window. But the result was a great community meeting at Brava Theater where the issues were constructively discussed.

I wish you all the best in your future art endeavors.

Best regards,
