Luchadoras is a series of 12"x12" acrylic on canvas paintings inspired by "lucha libre." Lucha libre refers to Mexican wrestling. The wrestling performers are called luchadores. The most famous luchadores are men, such as Blue Demon or El Santo. There are and have been women wrestlers. The masks in this series are based on actual luchadoras.
In this series, Lupe and Sirena are luchadoras. They perform actual lucha libre moves.
